CEE link up with Hubei Teacher Training College

The CEE team visited China to establish links with Hubei Teacher Training College in Wuhan to develop educational and cultural exchanges between CEE and Hubei College.

The team, who were led by Linda Baston-Pitt CEO of Cambridge Early Education, spent a week visiting kindergartens, schools and colleges in Beijing and Wuhan.

Linda and her colleague Hazel Wright delivered a series of presentations to student teachers about the UK’s Early Years Foundation Curriculum.

Linda said, “We have had an incredible week visiting kindergartens, schools and colleges in Beijing and Wuhan. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to collaborate, share ideas and experiences about our approaches to education and we look forward to planning the first visit for Chinese students to visit Cambridge at the end of the year.”

The visit came about after CEE were invited to Hubei College to meet with the principle and senior leadership team through their Chinese partner in the UK William Wang. It is part of an initiative to explore the possibility of both CEE, Purplebee Learning and Hubei College to work in partnership to create a collaborative approach to teacher training.

Plans are under way to organise the first two week educational and cultural teacher exchange which will include lectures in college combined with external visits so that students can get the chance to experience what it’s like to work in nurseries and schools in Cambridge.

Gladys Chen, a course leader from Hubei College in China, said: “We feel extremely privileged to have had Linda and her team visit us. It’s been an unforgettable experience for us all. Our students have learnt so much. we would like to think that this will be the first of many educational and cultural exchanges between us both.”
